| Glen "Foo" Brown was born in San Pablo, Philippines in August 20th, 1981. Grew up in the streets of Alexandria, VA. He attended John Adams Elementary, Francis C. Hammond Middle School, and graduated T.C. Williams High School in 2000. He attended Art Institute of Washington in Summer of 2000, but dropped out within 2 years of his college career due to the lack of tuition funds. Art was a daily occurrence in Glen's early life. As a child, he would draw with anything he could he his hands on and on anything he could see. Often, he would get into trouble with his Mother for drawing on walls. This state of mind carried on until his early teen and adulthood, this time using spray cans as a medium, and street walls as his surface. Virtually unknown as a street artist, he became accustomed to keep it a secret. He would finally emerge as an airbrush artist in Spring of 2007. It was not until a friend brought it to his attention that he should be spraying with an airbrush. "It's much more sophisticated than a spray can!", said his fellow artist friend. Since then, Glen has fallen in love with the medium, and continues to explore new techniques and harness his skills as an airbrush artist. Influences Glen owes his influences to his public school teachers of every year of his education. It was those whom he owes his gratitude and respect for teaching him the ways of an artist. His other influences are from the works of Chuck Close (for his portraits), H.R. Giger (for his airbrush work), Olivia (for capturing the beauty of women), among a plethora of other artists. Face the Emotions 2007-beyond Face the Emotions is his first series of artwork with a theme. The subjects are mainly people that around him in his daily life. The portraits of faces he renders are of close friends, people he finds interesting, or anyone that has a personality he finds endearing and/or inspirational. Most of his subjects are people he met through the internet, bars, and parties. Glen seeks the essence of that person in his renderings to capture it in a way that is entertaining, thought provoking, and emotional. Current Glen spends most of his time drinking coffee as a freelance graphic designer and spends time countless hours in his studio working on Face The Emotions Series. As an unknown artist, he hopes he can find the right gallery for his artwork. |
